The Birds are with Me

"I can lick forty tigers today...I can lick forty tigers today," Lils kept repeating and deep breathing trying to get into her into Zen spot by tricking her mind to slow down her racing thoughts. “If I can just get everyone to step aboard and ride this train…we will succeed,” she said to herself with a cleansing deep exhale.

Desperately, Lils wants to change the world.

She never dreamed she would be tapped to speak to the world on behalf of our environment.

Why would anyone listen to her?

This triggered her fears and anxiety enormously. She was unsure if she could go through with this. She trembled like a leaf contemplating giving her notes to the Master of Ceremonies to read on her behalf.

Lils knew it was valid to say, no one can pretend our environment is not in need of critical tender loving care.

She struggled with how to raise her voice and address the issue without causing opposing voices to explode, instead giving them valid points to consider and for the first time; stepping out the cage of distorted perspectives to see the world around us.

To view the world we live and breath on, raise our babies- that supports our precious lives in a new way and want to live in ways more compatible for delicate ecosystems and clean up all the filthy trash we carelessly strewn across the surface and into the deep.

She rehearsed her speech committed to memory one more time before it was her turn to present at the Global Alliance for Emergency Environmental Interventions.

It was a beautiful day to have the rallies outdoors.

There was the perfect crisp in the air and delightful soft cumulus clouds dotted the sky in a delicate floating parade, not a day passed that the wonders of nature did not fill Lils with a sense of awe and wonder.

A crow flew overhead…cawing approval to Lils. “The birds are with me, a good omen for the day…” Lils mentally observed as she was being announced to come out to the stage and give her presentation.

Author's Note:
We only have one planet to call home. Take politics out of the discussion, I want no part of new deals and agendas promising results that never manifest.

What if we all just learned how to live in a gentler way on the planet, mindful of our actions that can have dire consequences. What's harmful to us is probably harmful to nature as well.

That is all.

In effort to improve my writing skills and polish up I have began taking creative writing classes on Coursera. This is the week 1 assignment. Sharing for full transparency, in hopes readers can see my improvements with creative writing and be inspired to seek out instruction for betterment of their craft as well (if they find themselves with a little rust on the boat as did I.)

Happy writing, may your creative streams flow freely and unrelenting …

All my best-
